Prayer, as a fundamental pillar of Islam and a core component in shaping religious identity, holds a pivotal role in the spiritual and moral education of children. The lack of an instructional algorithm aligned with the cognitive and emotional developmental stages of children often results in a merely imitative approach to prayer learning, devoid of genuine spiritual understanding. Consequently, developing effective strategies—rooted in the Qur’anic teachings and narrations of the Infallibles (peace be upon them)—to guide the purposeful and meaningful learning of prayer is an essential priority in the field of Islamic education.
This study aims to propose an educational algorithm for transferring the concepts and practical skills related to prayer to children, drawing upon Qur’anic verses and the narrations of the Infallibles through an inductive analytical approach. The research employs qualitative content analysis to extract pedagogical patterns and educational principles from authoritative religious texts.
The findings reveal that effective prayer education follows a gradual and stage-based process tailored to children’s cognitive and emotional capacities. The proposed model comprises five key phases: nurturing affection and motivation, reinforcing habit formation, practical training, encouragement, and continuous supervision.
The results demonstrate that the algorithm derived from authentic narrations offers a practical and comprehensive framework for parents and educators to internalize prayer practices in children prior to the age of religious obligation, thereby laying a solid foundation for the development of their spiritual consciousness and religious identity.
