English

The present research has investigated the effectiveness of group counseling based on the cognitive-existential hybrid approach on increasing the positive attitude towards childbearing in childless working women. This research was carried out in a semi-experimental method using a pre-test-post-test design with an experimental group and a control group, along with follow-up. The statistical population consisted of all married and working women without children in Golpayegan city who were working in public and private jobs in 1402-1403. Among them, 30 qualified volunteers were selected and assigned to two experimental and control groups. The experimental group was exposed to 8 existential cognitive group counseling sessions and the control group did not receive counseling. They were measured in three stages: pre-test, post-test and follow-up. The data were analyzed by covariance analysis with spss software. The findings showed that existential cognitive group counseling reduced all dimensions and factors affecting negative attitudes towards childbearing in both post-test and follow-up stages. This decrease was not significant only in the post-test and follow-up in the economic dimension and marital problems and the follow-up phase in the occupational problems dimension. Therefore, this method of group counseling can be used to improve the attitude of childless working women towards having children.
