Abstract
The aim of the present study was to develop a growth-oriented coping model focused on the family system in couples facing infertility crisis. The present study method was qualitative and used the grounded theory method. The study population was infertile couples referring to the infertility center of Shahid Beheshti Hospital in Isfahan. Ten couples were interviewed in a semi-structured manner using purposive and theoretical sampling. The results were coded and classified using the systematic approach of Strauss and Corbin and at three levels: open, axial, and selective. The results of data classification showed the selected code of expansive attitudinal components (with the axes of efficient mental space, sustaining philosophy of life) and the selected code of helpful communication style (with the axes of supportiveness, constructive role-playing, social differentiation, and shared orientation) as primary and secondary causal conditions, the selected code of purposeful parenting strategies (with the axis of cultivating rationality and rationality, active inhibition and self-management, flexibility capacity, and cultivating spirituality and belief in God), the selected code of transcendental procreation as a consequence of applying couples' growth-oriented strategies (with the axes of mature character, constructive interactions, family strength, and progressive motivation), and the factors underlying environmental supports (with the axes of family of origin support and organizational supports), and the mediating factors of cultural changes (with the axis of public awareness). Such results can contribute to cultural and social changes, and can be provided to couples and the system involved in their treatment and education in the form of educational and skill packages and programs, helping to improve their mental state and, consequently, their physical condition.
